History of Rochester Parks Online
Katie Eggers Comeau, Architectural Historian at Bero Architecture, will discuss the history of Rochester's park system, tracing the city’s many parks from their 19th-century beginnings through the present.
Comeau will be joined by co-presenters Caitlin Meives, Director of Preservation, Landmark Society of Western NY and JoAnn Beck, President, Highland Park Conservancy
Learn about landscape designer Frederick Law Olmsted's influence on Rochester parks, and how park lands have reflected societal values and trends. Comeau covers the fascinating backstory of old favorites, like Highland, Genesee Valley, and Seneca Parks, as well as such modern counterparts as Turning Point Park.
