Book Club for Young People Online

The Book Club for young people is a group for young people from the Rochester community ages 13 to 19 who gather here at Central Public Library of Rochester & Monroe County in the Teen Center every other week to read and discuss relevant literature, current events and other multimedia educational resources. Due to COVID we have since tranisistioned to an online format via ZOOM. We use an open dialogue format. Attendance is optional but participation is required. Our mission is to “Make Reading Cool Again” by conveying the value and importance of reading while assisting students to develop the perspective that reading is an enjoyable and desirable activity. Our goal is to help more of our young people reach their dreams, regardless of their race, gender, or socioeconomic status. The Book Club seeks to combat those obstacles and close opportunity and literacy gaps facing the youth by serving as a supplemental resource for skill development, ;earning and reading.
