Learn the Long Stitch book Binding Method

Learn the Long Stitch book Binding Method In-Person

In a longstitch binding, the sections and cover are sewn simultaneously, so the sewing becomes part of the design. The longstitches on the spine can be treated in a number of ways, even wrapped or braided. Beading, silk or metallic thread, and knotting can be added to the stitches as they are sewn or can be worked on afterward by pinching them together and using embroidery stiches. Various lengths and number of stitches can be used. For this class, you will strengthen the spine by gluing on a strip of linen before making the sewing holes.

All students will be masked and social distancing will be practiced.

This class will be taught by book artist Rebecca Grant and is for adults ages 18 and older. All supplies will be provided.

This is a LIVE class NOT a ZOOM class.

This class is for adults and will be live in the Art Division. Students and teacher need to be masked and practice social distancing. All supplies will be provided.
