Sewn on Tapes Bookbinding Method In-Person
Sewn-on-tapes book:
A hardcover book in which the individual signatures are bound together via tapes or ribbons that, positioned across folded edges of the stacked signatures and sewn over many times, become an integral part of the book’s spine. A kettle stitch (sometimes called a French knot) is added with the incorporation of later signatures, a multi-tiered looping technique designed to eliminate any gaps or swell between signatures and ensure the durability of the binding.
Both students and teacher will be wearing a mask and social distancing will be practiced.
This class will be taught by book artist Rebecca Grant and is for ages 18 and older. All supplies will be provided.
This is a LIVE class NOT a ZOOM class.
This class is for adults and will be held live in the Art Division. Students and teacher need to be masked and practice social distancing. All supplies will be provided and returned after the class.
