Make a Japanese Kimekomi Holiday Ornament

Make a Japanese Kimekomi Holiday Ornament

Kimekomi (pronounced key may koe me) is a technique where a pattern is drawn and then cut onto a surface, such as a soft wood or smooth foam.  Fabric is then placed over the pattern and tucked into the cuts.  Students will learn the basics for making a kimekomi ornament.  Most of the fabric choices will be Christmas themed. Although not required, students are encouraged to bring a small sharp pair of scissors to class if they have them. This class is for adults ages 18 and over. It will be held in the Arts Division. Students and teacher will be masked and will practice social distancing.
