Learn to Code with Python: Free Online Workshop Series at the Central Library of Rochester Online

These Python classes are designed for absolute beginners but will provide a gateway to coding and programming and help you build a strong foundation in computer programming. Registration is required. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link and login information. Introduction to Computer Programming & Coding   

These workshops will teach you about the basics of computer programming. You’ll install Python PyCharm (Free Community Edition).You will use this text editor to learn the following concepts: Integer, string, variables, lists, functions, conditional statements, loops, errors, debugging code, & more. You can choose to complete a project of your choice: 

Python Project: Making a Video Game is Just as Fun as Playing One! Learn how to code your first video game in Python!   

You’ll learn the basic coding for developing a game using Pygame in Python. This class will help you understand the main game development concepts like moving characters, shooting bullets, and more.  

Python Project: How to Build a Web App on Your Phone – Python & Pydroid (Android App Tutorials)

For this class all you need is to have is an Android phone (version 6 and higher) so you can install an application called pydroid3. Then, just pip Django and start building your project!
