Composer Dr. Nathaniel Dett: a Life and Legacy In-Person

Robert Nathaniel Dett, an internationally-renowned composer, choral conductor, author, human rights advocate, and visionary, lived in Rochester for two decades, earned his master’s degree at Eastman School of Music, directed choirs at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and Trinity Presbyterian Church, and served as president of the local NAACP chapter. His rich and influential life and career as musician, educator, poet, and community organizer will be explored in this presentation and discussion by Arlene Wright Vanderlinde. Mona Seghatoleslami will moderate and members of the Rochester Oratorio Society will perform musical excerpts.
