Learn the Piano Hinge Method Of BookBinding In-Person
The signatures in this book are woven together over sticks, pencils, or skewers, instead of sewn. Soft covers work with little pop-up folds inside and look similar to the pages. Hard covers can be added with a modified stab binding. You will use cover-weight paper or cardstock for the pages and covers. This structure is usually attributed to Hedi Kyle. She writes, “experimenting with this model might lead you to ask, what other everyday objects can be translated into the medium of the book?”
Both students and teacher will be wearing a mask and social distancing will be practiced.
This class will be taught by book artist Rebecca Grant and is for ages 18 and older. All supplies will be provided.
This is a LIVE class NOT a ZOOM class.
