Heritage Tales: A Monthly Genealogy Program

Heritage Tales: A Monthly Genealogy Program In-Person

Calling all ancestry seekers! Join us each month to share your questions and discoveries with fellow genealogists. Pick up pro tips from our featured monthly presenter and learn more about the resources that can help you uncover your own family's stories.

This month's presenter is Mekko Mongeon. Mongeon is the Exhibit Project Manager for Clarissa Uprooted, an exhibit set to open in June 2022 that will highlight the resilience of the neighborhoods of the Third Ward. Mongeon works in close collaboration with amazing elders, youth, community partners, and exhibition experts. From 1952 to the present, five generations of Mekko's family have resided in the Historic Third Ward, now known as the Corn Hill District. Mongeon will share her family's history and strong connection to the once thriving African American neighborhood.
