***CANCELED***Tomato Canning In-Person

THIS EVENT IS POSTPONED. WE HOPE TO RESCHEDULE A DATE FOR LATER THIS SUMMER OR NEXT SUMMER.

This event is co-sponsored by Rush Public Library and will be held at the William Udicious Pavilion, 1900 Rush Scottsville Rd, behind the Rush Town Hall/ Library.

There are so many different types of tomatoes available to us today that weren’t around when our Grandmothers and Mothers were putting up jars of tomato sauce.  Why is that important?  As tomatoes change, canning recipes need to also change to ensure you’re safely putting up this beautiful produce.  Today’s tomatoes mean that treasured family recipes may not be considered safe anymore.

At this hands-on session we’ll use a Boiling Water Bath method to make hot pack Crushed Tomatoes and raw pack Whole Tomatoes.  We’ll talk through recipes for Seasoned Tomato Sauce and learn how to safely can your jars of tomatoes into any type of tomato product – salsa, sauce, juice, paste etc.

If you’re new to canning tomatoes or just want a refresher, join us for this informative yet fun interactive class!
