Pioneering Women in Photography

Pioneering Women in Photography Online

Women have been part of the history of photography from its inception. Female photographers enhanced the canon of visually recording people, places, and events in an industry traditionally skewed towards men. Photography remains stubbornly male-dominated—specifically, In terms of commissioning, exhibition, and publication of work—with a conspicuous lack of equality in the industry.

Despite the inequity, some of the world’s most recognized images were captured by women. Whether these women became household names or lesser known to the populous, their work and its impact are no less significant. Thankfully, in the twenty-first century, things are slowly starting to improve.

Learn about the women who paved the way and see what the new generation of photographers brings to the unfolding visual future. This is a Zoom lecture. Once registered you will receive the Zoom link.
