Rochester's Rich History - A Little Slip of Heaven: Songs and Stories of the Rochester Irish, from Baby Boom to Baby Bust

Rochester's Rich History - A Little Slip of Heaven: Songs and Stories of the Rochester Irish, from Baby Boom to Baby Bust In-Person

This performance tells the story of the Rochester Irish in the decades following the Second World War. Through original songs based on traditional Irish melodies, it looks at how, in a time of tremendous change, Irish Americans tried to remain true to their ethnic culture rooted in urban, working-class neighborhoods.

Christopher Shannon is Associate Professor of History at Christendom College in Front Royal, Virginia. Shannon is the author of several books on Irish and American history, including Bowery to Broadway:  The American Irish in Classic Hollywood Cinema. He is currently working on a biography of Rochester’s own Irish musical duo, John and Joe Dady, The Dady Brothers.
