A Beginner's Guide to Self-Publishing: A 3-part Online Series with Jane Sutter Online

Have you written a book or have one in process but are confused about how to publish it? Jane Sutter, author of four self-published books and owner of Sutter Communications, will help you learn about all the different options of self-publishing (print and e-book) and the many details involved. Topics to be covered include the difference between self-publishing and traditional publishing, types of self-publishing available, building a support team, getting an ISBN number, the business side of selling books yourself, the costs of self-publishing, and marketing your book successfully

Jane Sutter has been “wild about words” – the motto of Sutter Communications – since her mother began taking her as a toddler to the public library and reading books to her. Jane spent 13 years in top leadership roles at the Democrat and Chronicle in Rochester, N.Y., including as managing editor, deputy editorial page editor and general manager of Rochester Magazine. She is the past president of the New York State Associated Press Association. Jane founded Sutter Communications in 2015. “My specialty is using a variety of communications tools to help businesses develop strong messaging and find more clients and customers. I also have a passion for helping writers to fulfill their dream of writing and publishing a book.” Jane is the author of the book Beloved Burlington: Featuring businesses you knew and loved! about her hometown of Burlington, Iowa, and published in November 2019. She also wrote Sutter’s Sodas Satisfy: A Memoir of 90 Years of Sutter Drug Co., published in 2015 and selected for inclusion at the Self-Published Book Festival in Rochester. Also in 2015, Jane edited and published the book In My Corner: Beating The Odds With Help From My Friends by Rochester businesswoman Angella Luyk. Jane holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
