Nonfiction Narratives Book Group In-Person

We have begun a new book discussion group that will meet quarterly. Join us for a discussion of Copies in Seconds: Chester Carlson and the Birth of the Xerox Machine by David Owen. This book tells the story of the machine nobody thought we needed but now can’t live without! Carlson offered his big idea to 2 dozen major corporations, among them IBM, RCA, and GE - all of which turned him down. Drawing on interviews, Xerox company archives, and the private papers of the Carlson family, Owen has woven together a fascinating and instructive story about persistence, courage, and technological innovation. Register in advance, and join us on Thursday, November 17 at 7:00 PM in the Library. Refreshments will be served. Copies of the book are available at the library.
