"July '64" Documentary Viewing & Discussion, Rochester Reads Event

"July '64" Documentary Viewing & Discussion, Rochester Reads Event In-Person

Directed by Carvin Eison (2000); Violence erupted at a street dance on a hot July night when a routine arrest took a turn for the worse—and ended when the National Guard was called to a northern city for the first time during the civil rights era. July ’64 gives voice to the people who lived it and tells the story of three days of conflict and unrest that altered the course of history in Rochester.

This viewing is part of Rochester Reads 2022 programming. Documentary will be discussed in relation to Writers & Books' Rochester Reads 2022 pick, Hell of a Book, by Jason Mott.
