Rush Readers’ Book Club - January In-Person
This month’s selection is Persuasion by Jane Austen; this was her final novel, published at the end of 1817, six months after her death. “The story concerns Anne Elliot, a young Englishwoman of twenty-seven years, who was "persuaded" by her friends and family to end her relationship with Captain Wentworth. They meet again after a seven-year separation, setting the scene for many humorous encounters as well as a second, well-considered chance at love and marriage for Anne in her second "bloom". Persuasion it is accepted as Austen’s most maturely written novel, showing a refinement of literary conception indicative of a woman approaching forty years age.” Join us in-person at 7:00 PM on Thursdays: January 26 or February 2.
