First Wednesdays for Small Business - Procurement In-Person

Are you an aspiring business owner or already own a business? Join us the first Wednesday of each month to learn business basics to help you succeed! This program is in partnership with the Small Business Development Center and the US Small Business Administration. 

The Procurement Experience

Drake Thomas, Certified SBDC Business Advisor, will host and present “The Procurement Experience.” Government agencies buy goods and services. The program will address how small businesses can participate in the process for selling products and services to government agencies. Drake will provide a brief overview about SBDC resources and information regarding NYS program certification processes as well as information and resources regarding procurement.

Matthew Burrell, U.S Air Force (Ret.), Monroe County/Finger Lakes PTAC Procurement Counselor, and VA Certified Verification Counselor, will present information about how to read and respond to contract bid opportunities.

Kimberly Mitchell, MWBE Training Coordinator, Business Opportunities Program through the Rochester Schools Modernization Program, will discuss how business owners can take their businesses to the next level through that program.

Virginia Smith, Rochester Branch Manager, Buffalo District Office, US Small Business Administration, will briefly discuss lending options for contractors.
